Gender and Sexuality

If you find yourself experiencing dysphoria or distress, worrying about family acceptance/social stigma, or struggling with religion or spirituality in relationship with your gender identity or sexual orientation, you deserve to have a safe place to talk. It's not unusual to struggle with feelings of shame or embarrassment due to growing up in a society and within families or communities that hold prejudicial views toward the LGBT+ community. I am here to support you in leaning into your identity and working toward living as your authentic self.

If you want to involve family or loved ones in our work together then I welcome that. I can help you navigate how to live a well-balanced life that embraces who you really are and who you aspire to be. Wherever you land in the LGBTQ+ community, you can expect a sense of unconditional support, self-acceptance and freedom in our work together.

Couples Therapy

At this moment it may feel like it’s you versus your partner. However, it is actually you and your partner versus the problem at hand, and this approach in couples work can make the lasting difference for your relationship.

Relationships under stress can suffer a loss of communication and connection and endure diminished emotional and sexual intimacy. Negative emotions give way to partners turning away from each other. I believe it is possible to turn conflict back into connection, and effective couples therapy can help partners turn toward each other again to understand and make certain resentment does not hold. Should unresolved trauma be present, we will safely explore its impact on the bond you share.

Couples will learn how the life experiences of each of you inform how you show up in the relationship when challenges arise, making it possible discover a path to conflict resolution, and healing. From financial worries to parenting challenges to the trauma of emotional or physical infidelity, I will safely honor and support your vulnerability so that each of you may open to real solutions, before the toxicity of resentment takes hold.

If you are in a nontraditional (non-monogamous or open) relationship, there may be a higher risk that you and your partner(s) encounter a higher level of conflict. I specialize in and take great care when working with LGBTQ+ couples, polyamorous/open relationships, one or both/multiple partners who are on the autism spectrum, and sexual abuse survivors. I am also kink-friendly when it comes to sexual conflict.

Trauma Treatment

Unresolved trauma from as far back as childhood can show up in our present lives in unexpected ways, impacting our closest relationships, life transitions, and emotional well-being. I provide a safe and nonjudgmental space for you to fully be yourself, as you find self-awareness, reclaim your autonomy and identity to feel empowered over your life.

I use an eclectic approach tailored to your specific needs; personalized therapy techniques include, but are not limited to, trauma-informed cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT), narrative therapy, inner child healing, and exposure therapy.
